That’s ok.
We circumcise boys not only from South-East Queensland and Northern New South Wales, but also from further afield, including quite commonly boys from Sydney, Northern Territory and overseas. Parents often find it less expensive and less traumatic to fly here, than to opt for admission to hospital for a cut-and-stitch under general anaesthesia.
As a general rule, the circumcision can be done the same day as arrival in Brisbane. It is however important that the patient should remain within about an hours drive for at least 24 hours after the procedure. That would mean accommodation in Brisbane or the Gold Coast.
The patient should be fit to fly 24 hours after the procedure. (Or to enjoy a few days at the beach).
We will only do circumcisions with the Plastibell, which comes in a range of sizes to suit from birth to puberty. All are done after prior application of anaesthetic cream, and those over 3 months are given a sedative as well.
If coming from afar, it is important that we know that in advance, so that preliminary consultation and examination, and anaesthesia all go smoothly. Please talk with my helpful staff on (07) 3349 6444. They may also be able to suggest accommodation options.
